Brilliant thriller...loved it

This was my favorite movie of the summer of 2009, and I saw roughly 20 films. I am not a horror movie fan but something about this film intrigued me..."there's something incorrect with Esther"...that made me get up and go see it in the theaters. I absolutely loved this film. I thought each of the actors played their role perfectly in this film, particularly our chief star whose name I cannot recall as I'm writing this. Vera Farmiga also does a particularly fine job and I wish she was in more chief roles, herself as I reckon she's quite talented. This particular DVD comes with record of an every second ending which I somewhat liked better than that shown in the final cut, along with some deleted scenes which I suppose are worth surveillance once.

I rate this film (and DVD) five stars and give it my peak authorize as a horror film/thriller and more significantly, as a movie laden with memorable lines by Esther like "There...its in Heaven now..." or "Going everyplace Kate...?" Heh heh.

Delight in!
This one has a right "Hitchcock" feel

I really had to look up Isabelle Fuhrman to make sure she is just a child player. She was absolutely incredible in this role and deserves awards for this routine. The tale itself is a usual horror/thriller with lots of nail-biting suspence and cold-hearted action. There's something about this film that draws me back to watch it over again. It's really not that excellent, but the performances are a saving grace.
Largest Bolt from the blue of 2009!

When I saw the first ad for this movie it reminded me of The Excellent Son, which was an brilliant movie. There is just something about demented family that creeps the heck out of me. I went into this movie with a small reservation in the family way it to be a poor entry into the psycho-kid genre, but thankfully I was incorrect. This movie exceeded my expectations in every way and gave me hope that they can really make a fantastic thriller with a small bit horror mixed in. My only beef with the movie is the first twenty to thirty minutes which could have easily been condensed, but once Isabelle Fuhrman's Esther is introduced the rollercoaster starts and keeps you enthralled and sweaty-palmed all the way to the end. Isabelle Fuhrman came way out of left field with her routine as Esther. Her Russian accent is top notch (I really thought she was Russian in real life). Fuhrman is extremely convincing as she switches personas from the kind, sweet Esther and the evil, brutal Esther. She plays it well, nearly too well. I haven't seen her in no matter what thing else, but she seems more veteran that all of the child actors out there.

The TWIST at the end will leave you astonished. Buy it. Rent it. Just see it any way you can. You really won't be disappointed unless you have REALLY high expectations. If nothing else simpy see it for Isabelle Fuhrman's routine.
Saw this in theatre, like it!

This is an awesome movie that did not get it's proper justice in the movie theaters. It's a fantastic Blu Ray copy. This is a must have for your pool.
